Ford’s going a bit bonkers for limited-run special-edition Ford Rangers, and while this one doesn’t fry our burger much, we are according to Facebook, a major Australian news provider – they killed our Facebook page today – so we’d better hop to it and get some major news out!
Ford’s calling this one the Ford Ranger Tradie, which is about where we lost interest, but by heck, it’s packing some gear that’s going change the way your local tradies get the job done.
Here’s the list of special-edition features your new Ranger Tradie will be wearing:
- Black nudge bar
- Lumen 20.5-inch slimline LED Light Bar
- Black 16-inch alloy wheels
- Black side steps
- Bedliner
- Tow bar
Ford reckons that the above additions will add improved capability to the regular run-of-the-mill Ranger XL and that this will benefit tradies working on local worksites and remote properties.
All we know for sure is that if you’re quick, the Ranger Tradie is available for a limited time at $47,990 driveaway and that’s $1,000 cheaper than the XL on which it is based.
When that ‘limited time’ has expired, the price of the Ford Ranger Tradie will rise to $52,190 before on-road costs, which will be close to $10,000 more than the driveaway launch deal.
Smart Ranger XL buyers can turn up to their local Ford dealers dressed as tradies right now and buy a Ranger Tradie, save $1,000 on the driveaway price, and sell the extras off on Gumtree.
That’s what we’d be doing.
