2021 Jeep Wrangler Specs And Pricing: Diesel Dropped From Range

Jeep Australia has announced its 2021 Wrangler line-up, and it’s exclusively powered by the 209kW 3.6-litre Pentastar petrol V6, backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The previously available 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, that we rather liked, has been dropped from the Wrangler range.

Additionally, Jeep Australia has reintroduced the Sport S entry-level variant and announced a new Wrangler Night Eagle variant.

Jeep Wrangler Sport S

The Sport S disappeared from the Wrangler line-up for MY20 after scoring a one-star ANCAP rating but is now back with the same three-star rating as the Overland and Rubicon, thanks to the addition of AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) along with a suite of standard active safety equipment that includes, Forward Collision Warning Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Path Detection.

Comfort and convenience features include LED exterior lighting, remote proximity keyless entry, a fourth-generation UConnect 7.0” Touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic headlamps, push-button start, 7.0” Driver Information Display Cluster and dual-zone climate control.

The 4X4 features of the Sport S include heavy-duty Dana front and rear axles, underbody skid plates and a wash-out interior. The Selectable Tyre Fill Alert (STFA) system, which was first introduced on Gladiator, is now a standard inclusion across the Wrangler line-up. STFA makes tyre inflation or deflation more convenient by providing an auditory notification when the desired tyre pressure is reached. The preferred deflation or inflation pressure is selected via the Uconnect touchscreen and can be set to a minimum of 15 psi.

Also standard in the Sport S model, and across the rest of the range, is Selec-Speed Control. Also known as ‘off-road cruise control’, Selec-Speed Control is activated in low-range and utilises brake pressure and engine torque to manage the Wrangler’s speed over terrain, allowing the driver to focus purely on steering. The speed can be adjusted from 2-8km/h, via the +/- on the gear stick or steering wheel-mounted controls.

There are two optional equipment packages on offer, the Off-Road Group package and the Comfort and Sound Group package.

The Wrangler Night Eagle model features darkened exterior and interior accents, including gloss black fog lamp bezels, grille surrounds, headlamp inserts and badging, as week as 17-inch five-spoke black alloy wheels. The Comfort and Sound Group package is included as part of the Night Eagle package.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overland

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overland model includes the addition of Jeep’s optional Sky One-Touch Powertop. The fully-automatic sliding roof system allows you to retract the full-length open canvas roof with the push of a button, taking less than 20 seconds to fully open or retract. The Sky One-Touch Powertop can be operated whilst driving up to 96km/h.

The Trail Rail Cargo Management System is also included.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Off-Road+ Mode has been added as standard to the Rubicon, which fine-tunes the traction control system for various off-road conditions. In low-range 4X4, the Off-Road+ button engages Rock Mode, while in high-range 4X4, the Off-Road+ button engages Sand Mode.

The Rubicon can also be optioned with the Trail-Ready Package with Forward Facing TrailCam.
